Let's Here it For the Boys

Image: style.com
Fab readers we are super excited this fall for the menswear inspired looks that are popping up everywhere. This androgynous look screams sexy and confident while sparking curiosity to know more about you. The androgynous look includes bespoke oxford shoes, loose fitting blazers, vests, trousers and oxford shirts. An added bonus to the androgynous look is that you can shop in your boyfriend's closet (or your dad's and you might find some cool vintage pieces). Mix and match with more feminine pieces for a more leisure glam look if you think this look might be a little to masculine for your taste. While it does take confidence to pull this look off we are convinced that you fab readers can do it with no problem. Check out a few of our faves and let us know what you think.

Tis The Season......For Gap

Image: Gap

The fall season is under way (well not here in LA but everywhere else) and we have come to realize that it is that time of year...... Tis the the season to break out the denim jeans and the tweed jackets, vests, hats and other FAB assessories. While searching for timeless pieces for our fall and winter wardrobe. We stopped and took a look at GAP.com and what did we see??? The combination of Tweed and Denim looks to be a fab look for the winter season. The look is classic, timeless, and definitely CHIC! It's something about a nice fitting jean (there are a variety of styles to choose from), a clean and nicely shaped boot or heel, a classic or not so classic white shirt and a trendy vest or blazer that is sooooooo freaking sexy and FABULOUS!!!!!! There are several hats and other accessories that can make your look second to none. So as the seasons change, the leaves continue to fall, days and nights are becoming more brisk, and winter begins to come our way........stop by your local GAP or GAP.com to look at the fall selections as they hone in on this timeless look. We guarantee that you will not be disappointed and you will be looking CHIC and FABULOUS without breaking your bank! I mean we all know that there are several other retailers that are carrying this CHIC look this season but they aren't all carrying the CHEAP price tag that are friends over at GAP are offering us. FYI......... GAP caters to us all, petite, tall, average, and curvy.... they love us all (now that's unity)!!!!! There's just something about Autumn and Winter that I love (hats, blazers, jackets, scarfs, the list goes on) and GAP helps us display it in our wardrobe. Check Out a few of our faves

Is This the End of Steve and Barry's

Image: Fabsugar
Say it ain't so Joe (sorry I couldn't resist). Could this economy really be the end of the $8.98 dress? Apparently the answer is yes, as the collegiate company Steve and Barry's filed for bankruptcy protection last month and with no one willing to come to the saving grace of the company they announced that they will be closing over 100 stores. Steve and Barry's became popular amongst mainstream budget fashionistas after the introduction of Sarah Jessica Parker's clothing collection Bitten. The company is known for being store that provided fashionable pieces at affordable prices. While people can argue rather it was the economy or the over aggressive expansion that caused the company to fail we here at Fabulously Chic and Cheap cant help but wonder what will happen with Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker. Her collection has gotten us through many days of indecisiveness and were not ready to say goodbye (especially for $8.98). Click here to check out some of the latest looks from the collection.

Edit/Update: It has been brought to our attention by a fab reader that Steve and Barry's has been bought by investment firm BHY Holdings LLC for $163 million to read the entire article click here.

Home Shopping Network,Who Knew?

So every now and then when there is nothing to do we watch Home Shopping Network. I know (please don't judge) but you can find really cool stuff. The fab thing is that HSN has a flex pay option where you pay a minimum every month. After doing some thinking we realized that if you charge your item to an American Express and do the flex pay then you can get your item at the minimum cost with no interest (How Fabulous is that). A few of our favorites are Destination Style NY by Patricia Fields, Iman Global Chic, and Charm and Luck. Check out a few pieces that caught our eye and let us know what you think.

Charm and Luck Crinkled Patent Leather Bowler with Zipper Accent:$297.87

Iman 18 Month Day Planner:$19.95

Iman Global Chic City Tote Signature Handbag:$124.95

Destination Style NY by Patricia Field Button Dress:$159.90

Fab Song of the Moment

Usually we don't bother to tell you fabulous readers about random things like what music we are listening to but OMG we are in love with Neyo's She Got Her Own (Miss Independent Remix). Check it out below (oh and Jill Marie Jones is in the video but don't get me started on Girlfriends that is a whole other post but I loved Toni).

Florals For Fall

Just because the weather is turning gloomy outside doesn't mean it's time to put away the floral prints yet. Floral prints are back this fall in beautiful deep tones. These deep prints are great pairings for chestnut to chocolate browns and other earth tones. Remember to let the floral print be the statement of your outfit, make sure everything else is solid and simple. Check out a few of our favorite floral pieces.

The Highs and The Lows

The Highs and The Lows is a new installment that we here at Fabulously Chic and Cheap are introducing. We admit it here at Fab Chic and Cheap that every now and then we see an item that makes us want to throw all of Fabulously Chic and Cheap rules of living out the window and max out out the credit card. Then we come back to reality and try to find a savvy alternative (and hope to hit the lottery).

For our first edition we are going to spotlight a handbag that we have been salivating over for the past month nonstop: the Bottega Veneta Bombe' Croc Trim Tote. This bag is on of the most beautifully crafted bags we have ever seen and the leather is unbelievably soft and the exotic trim is to die for.... I think I have fallen in love(and did we mention that it is lined in suede). Anyone who knows anything about a Bottega Vaneta handbag knows that these are bags that you own for the rest of your life (which you should with a pricetag of $6800.00) you can not get anymore classic, stylish or sophisticated than Bottega Vaneta.
While the Bottega is no where near our price range a great mid priced alternative to the Bombe' Bag is the Genevieve Denny Bag by Cole Haan. This handbag still offers a handwoven leather in a classic yet fun silhouette and custom hardware and is resonably priced at $525.00

The Cole Haan is still a bit pricey but no fear we have found the perfect bag via Fashion Junkee. This bag is a faux leather (if Stella McCartney can rock the faux so can we...remember its all in the attitude) oversized woven bag. We love the shape of the bag along with the color and the silver hardware adds a hard a funky contrast to the bag. Best of all the Handbag is only $48.00 so hurry purchase while it is still available.

F.Y.I. Forever 21 has a great one for under $30.00

That does it for this edition of from The Highs and The Lows
