Mixing and Matching

Sometimes you have to shake things up a little bit and do some mixing and matching to make a look work for you. A couple of weeks ago I decided to do just that and contemporize my conservative look by just adding a couple things to spice things up a bit. The ISAAC MIZRAHI for Target dress was purchased on clearance for $12.99. I matched that with some accessories (Micheal Kors watch $495.00, silver and pearl necklace $19.99) and Dolce Vita Jayden peep toe ankle boots $198.00. It's so important for people to mix the high's and the low's. You dont always have to pay top dollar for every outfit you wear but if you take your inexpensive pieces and mix them with some higher quality pieces often times.... It's a MATCH!

Viva Las Vegas!

Hey FAB readers!!!!! What a weekend we just had in Viva Las Vegas!!!!! OMG, talk about FAB times with FAB people all around. While in Vegas, we had the opportunity to check out "The City" and stay at the new Posh ARIA Hotel. This hotel will knock your socks off! No need to leave "The City" grounds, as everything that you will ever need on your trip is on the property. Who cares what the rest of the strip has going on when you have a hotel room that is 2nd to none, gambling, FAB eateries, lounges, clubs, CHIC shopping at the classy Crystals shopping center, theatres, and everything else you will need right there in "The City." The hotel has a contemporary swag and the rooms are very much in the forefront of technology! As we walked into our room the TV automatically turned on, the curtains automatically opened, the clock/remote had my name displayed and the power of the room was at my fingertips from that moment on.... Not to mention the relaxation that is the restrooms in ARIA (posh, posh, posh) and a bed with a mattress that even beats the Westin (which was our FAV mattress prior our Vegas vacay this week). Now I know what you are thinking, if all of this is going on, I know it's gonna cost.... Well hold on to your seat belts. Since this is the first month of the opening of ARIA, they do have some nice deals going on with advance planning but if you have it to spend and don't need the bargain rate, then make ARIA your Hotel of choice for your last minute vacay, as we did. It is WELL worth the expense!

Fab Song of the Week: Richard Ashcroft Are You Ready

Fab readers we have an awesome new video to bring you. Richard Ashcroft, formally of The Verve (you guys know the awesomeness of Bittersweet Symphony). Well, it seems as though he has done it again with his epic new single 'Are You Ready?' This song is so HOT till it is on fire!!!! We can so see this song being the next big song to be used for Olympic Games or The World Cup, or anything that is MAJOR. The song is full of life and has us ready to hear the rest of the album and what Mr. Richard Ashcroft has up his sleeve. 'Are You Ready' was Produced by NO ID (you know the genius behind Death of Autotune, Run This Town, and numerous other hits. No ID and his Production Camp put it down with this one. We are also thinking that this is a good look for the No ID and his Production Camp to show everyone that he has no limits to his creativity and can heat up the Hip Hop as well as the Rock/Pop charts! We have heard that No ID and his Camp produced Ashcroft's whole album so we will be waiting hear what Richard has to share with us. We love it! Hope all you do too!

The Highs and Lows: Free People vs Forever 21

So have you ever seen a dress that you loved on sight and had to have it?! That's how it was when I first saw this Free People Holly dress, when I tried it on I went immediately to the register and told the sales woman to ring me up. It features the cutest lace design with and metallic threading and has a cut out back which makes it the cutest going out dress. While at $98.00 the dress definitely doesn't break the bank but you CAN do better for the price.

Shame on us for not doing our research because Forever 21 has a Metallic Lace Trim dress that is almost identical to the Free People Holly Dress for only $22.80. So clearly me being the Fabulously Chic and Cheap shopper that I am took the Free People dress went back to the store and soon the Forever 21 dress will be in my closet :-)

The Highs and Lows: Chloe vs Forever21

Chole Crosta Boots: $1195

Fab readers we have been drooling over the Chloe Crosta Olive suede boots every since we first saw them. Great for casual days these over the knee boots are a force to be reckoned with...unfortunately so is the price. These fab boots went on sale for $700 blew off the shelves...especially since they were originally $1195!!! No worries if you were unable to get your hands on these guys as ebay has a few pair floating around.

The boot is strikingly similar to the Chloe boots for only a fraction of the price. These boots will run you a mere $34.80 which is nothing compared to the original so click here to start shopping and have a fab day!

The Highs and The Lows: Alexander McQueen vs Luichiny vs Wet Seal

We must declare our love for the creative genius that is Alexander McQueen... is it anything that this man can not do?!?! The shoes... the clothes... everything is gorgeous and intriguing, he truly captures the art of fashion. Now that our love fest is over, for this edition of The Highs and The Lows we have the Alexander McQueen Studded Platform Booties. These super cute shoes are currently on sale 55% off and would "only" cost $552. The grommet slingback booties are Italian made and feature a 4 3/4" heel.

No worries if you can't afford the super sale price of $552, shoe company Luichiny has found "inspiration" from the McQueen booties and have created the Poke A Dot- Black Mystery bootie for only $87.99. The bootie offers a similar grommet design, open toe and slingback with a 4 3/4" heel. If you are loving the Luichiny version as much as we are click here to buy.

Wet Wet Seal has done it again!!! They have a Grommet Slingback that rivals Alexander McQueen for only $15.99. These are super cute a the price is a no brainer so hurry and order ladies!!!!

The Highs and Lows YSL Tribtoo Pumps vs Wetseal

YSL Tribtoo Pumps

Fab readers we could not believe our eyes when we saw the Round Toe Platform Pump from Wet Seal. It looks almost identical to the YSL Tribtoo Pump. We know that the YSL Pump has been seen on nearly every red carpet for the past few years and is definitely an investment shoe, but we just can't bring ourselves to pay $795 for this shoe...(however if we were ever to pay that much for a shoe it would probably be this shoe). Luckily Wet Seal has delivered an extremely similar pair of shoes for only.....wait for it....wait for it...$24.50!!!. Yes that is the same thing we said, for that price we can get 2 pair and so can you!!! What we love is that they didn't shorten the  heel which stands 5.5". Check them out here and get a pair in your size because these are definitely going to sell out fast.

First Look Preview: Jeffrey Campbell S/S 2010

Fab readers have we declared our love for Jeffrey Campbell lately?!? It seems as though over the past year he has dethroned Steve Madden as the knock off king for affordable shoes and we love it. It seems as though his team knows the perfect shoes to "gain inspiration" from and the shoes are such great quality. It seems as know surprise that he has chosen to do a clog for the season since it was featured on several runways for the S/S shows. Check out the first images from the collection below and let us know what you think

These Boots Were Made for Walking

Photobucket

Hey fab readers this is Kee 1/2 of the Fabulously Chic and Cheap duo giving you a quick outfit post. If you ever see me around LA (ok the valley...we are such Valley girls!!) likely you will see in a get up something like this on casual days. These types of outfits are perfect for running errands or hanging out at the park with my son (which is where we can usually be found). It seems as though my uniform for the winter has been shorts and oversized sweaters...and boots. These are my favorite boots (steve madden) I literally wear them three days a week and I have had them for three years, so now they are super distressed and beat up but I love them and refuse to let them go. They used to come up to the knee but now they slouch a little toooo much lol but they are my babies and are great for when I toting around my baby. So fab readers what are some of your fave pieces that you carry over season after season?

Get The Look: Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has definitely made a splash in the style category over the past couple years. Kim definitely knows how to mix her high and low pieces and make it all look fab (which is what we are all about).   We aren't the only ones that have noticed her style step up, with ifashionnetwork.com naming her stylist Monica Rose one of the top seven stylist for 2009. One of our favorite looks that we saw Kim wear was at the Aces and Angels Celebrity Poker Event at the Playboy Mansion. We love the simplicity of the dress, yet it is on trend it is with sharp shoulders and how she added glam with the bib necklace.

This look is a perfect example of rocking highs and lows. Kim is wearing a Topshop dress with Christian Louboutin shoes and clutch and Tuleste Market Petal Necklace. Check out our Fabulously Chic and Cheap version of Kim's look that has a little bit of our flare with the necklace and let us know what you think.
